We may also provide information for the purpose of safeguarding national security. In either case we do so in accordance with the Data Protection Act. We also provide information when required to do so by law, for example under a court order, or in response to properly made demands, under powers contained in legislation.

  1. For how long do we keep personal information?

The time period for which we keep information varies according to what the information is used for. In some cases there are legal requirements to keep data for a minimum period. Unless there is a specific legal requirement for us to keep the information, we will retain it for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the data was collected or for which it is to be further processed, e.g. for the submission of UK government trading statistics.

At the end of that retention period your information will be either completely deleted or anonymised, e.g. by aggregator with other data so that it can be used in a non-identifiable way for statistical analysis and business planning.

Examples of customer data retention periods include:

Orders: when you place an order we will keep the personal data you give us for five years so we can comply with our legal and contractual obligations.

Inactive accounts: If you have not used your account for more than five years it will be flagged as ‘inactive’ and we may contact you to ask whether you still want to keep it open. Unless asked to do otherwise we will close your account and delete or anonymise the personal data associated with it.

  1. How we protect your personal information

We are serious about guarding the security of your personal information and the details of any transactions made. As required by the UK Data Protection Act of 2018, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access.
